This inner city residential neighborhood in southwest Calgary allows a resident to take a swing at Calgary’s natural pathways, to watch the fish spawning up the Bow River, to take a scenic drive through Calgary’s fall colours, or to browse through some of the area’s local businesses all found within close proximity. Originally established in 1906, Erlton is tied in between the Elbow River to the north and west, Spiller Road to the east, and Mission Road to the south. The very popular Macleod Trail bisects the neighborhood, splitting it from north to south. With a population of just under 1,200 residents, over 70% of the properties in Erlton are apartments or condominiums with approximately 40% of these being used for renting purposes. It’s no wonder that this is the case as Erlton is only a six minute commute from downtown Calgary – only two kilometres south.

Public school students in Erlton attend Rideau Park K-9 School before finishing their studies at Western Canada Senior High School. Meanwhile, Catholic school students attend St. Monica K-9 or St. Michael K-9 before graduating at St. Mary’s Senior High.

There are vast arrays of amenities that surround Erlton including the Stampede Grounds being immediately northwest, Lindsay Park being in close proximity, and the Talisman Centre being a popular hub for recreational activities. The Lindsay Park Sports Center is also located within Erlton’s borders. Young professionals who occupy properties in Erlton enjoy taking a walk down to the shops and restaurants that line 17th Street.
