Aspen Woods Community Information

Originally established in 2001 and as an area that has seen continual development since then, the Calgary community of Aspen Woods is found in Calgary’s southwest. In the past fifteen years, Aspen Woods has grown to a community of over 5,000 residents spread across over 2,000 different properties. The neighborhood consists primarily of acreages and single-family detached homes with no low-income residents living within Aspen Woods and roughly 12% of these properties being used for renting purposes. Aspen Woods continues to experience growth to this day and the population is set to continue to grow long into the future.

The size of Aspen Woods means that students attend different schools depending on which side of 85th Street they are found on. Public school students found west of 85th Street attend Wildwood Elementary, Vincent Massey Junior High, and Ernest Manning Senior High School. Public school students found east of 85th Street attend Olympic Heights Elementary or Wildwood Elementary, Vincent Massey Junior High, and Ernest Manning Senior High School. Meanwhile Catholic school students attend St. Joan of Arc Elementary and Junior High before attending Bishop Carroll or St. Mary’s Senior High School.

The luxurious neighborhood falls in close proximity to the Aspen Landing Shopping Center which falls in the community’s southwest corner. The West Hills Town Centre is found only a few minutes south and the Westside Recreation Center is within walking distance of Aspen Woods – offering a multitude of activities including a newly renovated fitness center, an aquatic park, a rock climbing wall, gymnasiums, a running track, a hockey rink, and family-friendly programs.

Calgary Transit has several bus stops that line across 85th Street and 17th Avenue to assist residents travel across the city wherever they want to go. For example, should they want to visit downtown Calgary, it’s only a twenty minute drive.

Aspen Woods is a small but wealthy community that is very much still in development. Presently it is the home to many luxury homes spread across an elegant city design. Some of the most expensive real estate in Calgary is available in Aspen Woods. Through a combination of a family friendly location, with the privacy that inner city residents wish they had, and an exquisite view of the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop, this is an ideal neighborhood across many demographics.
