Cambrian Heights

Found in the northwestern quadrant of Calgary there is a small community by the name of Cambrian Heights that acts as home to over 2,000 residents. Nose Hill Park is located to its immediate northeast while it is bordered by 14^TH Street to its west and John Laurie Boulevard to its north. Cambrian Heights was a neighborhood that largely saw its major development in the 1960s which is evident in the types of properties available within the area which is largely residential in nature with numerous single family detached homes available for potential property buyers.

The area has been welcoming to young families with students and to retirees who are looking to settle in to a safe Calgary neighborhood that can still offer access to the amenities they’re used to. Public school students are assigned to attend the community’s own Cambrian Heights elementary followed by Colonel Irvine junior high and James Fowler senior high schools. Catholic school students attend St. Joseph elementary and junior high, and St. Mary’s senior high school which are all found near the community.

Offering picturesque views due to its’ varied topography, a centrepiece of the neighborhood’s attraction is its access to green space such as Nose Hill Park and Confederation Park. The Cambrian Heights Community Association work hard to take advantage of this access by planning various sports-related activities that encourage the local youth to get involved. The association also works to ensure that upcoming developments do not disrupt the tranquility of Cambrian Heights. On the other end of the spectrum, 10^TH Street gives quick access to the downtown core should one want to take a trip out of the community. One does not need to go far however for shopping opportunities as the North Hill Centre is found on the corner of 14^TH Street and 16^TH Avenue – only a few minutes’ drive away.

Residents who don’t own a vehicle need not worry as there are a number of Calgary Transit stops that line Northmount Drive, 14^TH Street, and Cambrian Drive that will take you to anywhere you want to go in the city.
