Kelvin Grove Neighbourhood Description
Originally established in 1960, the neighborhood of Kelvin Grove is one of the several neighborhoods that has played a significant role in the development of Calgary’s residential southwest. The streetscapes of Kelvin Grove extend out to Elbow Drive to the east, Glenmore Trail to the north, 75th Avenue to the south, and 14th Street to the west. With a median household income of approximately $52,000, over half of the residential buildings in the area are apartments or condominiums. Kelvin Grove presently boasts a population of nearly 2,500 residents which has remained stable over the course of the past few years. The Rockyview General Hospital is also in close proximity which only serves to add value to the properties of Kelvin Grove.
The neighborhood’s public school students attend Chinook Park Elementary, Woodman Junior High, and Henry Wise Wood Senior High School. Kelvin Grove’s Catholic school students attend St. Augustine Elementary and Junior High, and Bishop Grandin Senior High School – all of which are found in nearby communities. The neighborhood’s design is based around a family friendly, pedestrian friendly community where there are activities to engage in and a true sense of community development.
The amenities are in abundance as Kelvin Grove sits conveniently amongst some of Calgary’s proudest landmarks including the recreational opportunities and aqua beauty of Glenmore Trail, Calgary’s pathway system, the Weaselhead Flats hiking, and numerous parts.
The Glenmore Trail, Crowchild Trail, and 14th Street are all interconnected with Kelvin Grove allowing residents the chance to easily travel throughout the city and make it home in an instant.
