Offering thunderous views of the Rockies as well as beautiful views of the downtown Calgary cityscape, Mayland Heights is found in the city’s northeast just south of the Calgary International Airport. The neighborhood is bordered by Barlow Trail to the east, Memorial Drive to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the west, and the Trans-Canada Highway to the north. Originally established in 1962, Mayland Heights saw tremendous growth in the decades that followed and now maintains a population of 5,800 residents with little recorded population growth in the past few years. Meanwhile Catholic school students attend St. Alphonsus elementary and junior high before graduating to attend St. Mary’s or St. Francis senior high schools.

Mayland Heights is a neighborhood that has been kept in great condition throughout the past few decades. The median household income remains at $50,000 while roughly 42% of the housing is used for renting purposes. The area is notable for its large Italian community – the largest in all of Calgary. There are many amenities located throughout including several churches, numerous restaurants, and a handful of malls nearby that guarantees that a resident doesn’t need to go far in order to pick up some groceries or for a bite to eat.
