Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant is one of Calgary’s oldest communities with development originally beginning in 1912 and has now grown to become  home to nearly 5,000 residents. With a number of amenities including Confederation Park running through its’ northern portion, convenient access to the downtown area only four kilometres away, and the Sportsplex, Mount Pleasant can be found immediately north of the Trans-Canada Highway. The combination of green space, a direct route to the downtown centre via 10^th Street, and its’ close proximity to the North Hill Centre & SAIT Polytechnic has made it a must-visit among new Calgarians looking for a property.

Mount Pleasant’s public school students are assigned to attend Rosemont elementary or  Buchanan elementary, Georges P. Vanier junior high, and Crescent Heights senior high or James Fowler senior high. Catholic school students are assigned to attend the nearby St. Joseph elementary and junior high before graduating to St. Mary’s or St. Francis’ senior high school.

The Mount Pleasant Community Association puts on events year-round for all ages to enjoy including providing access to several sports, a public pool, before and after school programs, and a community summer festival complete with local art, music, food, and neighbours. With the downtown core and SAIT Polytechnic in close proximity with Mount Pleasant, it’s accommodating for young professionals and students that occupy some of the rented properties here. The Trans-Canada Highway also acts as a gateway to other areas of Alberta and is commonly used by residents who enjoy taking the weekend off to get away from the city. Calgary Transit features over two dozen stops in Mount Pleasant, primarily due to its’ size, which gives residents the chance to be within a few minutes’ walking distance at all times of a bus that will take them anywhere in the city.
